From P.Derchain’s 1965 book “Le papyrus Salt 825 (BM 10051): rituel pour la conservation de la vie en Égypte” (Yes I had to read French for this):

Papyrus Salt 825 aka P.BM 10051

“The God Re wept and the tears from his eyes fell on the ground and turned into a Bee”

The bees from tears is basically a pun in Ancient Egyptian writing. Ra is also mythologised to have cried tears that turn into people, thus creating humanity. The Egyptians knew this so they did word puns:

(Pronounced beet)

(Pronounced reh-metch)

(Pronounced reh-mee-tch)

So ‘tears’ to them is a pun on the portmanteau of ‘bee’ and ‘people’ thus giving the joke that Ra cried bees.
